Guinness Draught is certainly ol' reliable when it come to making black and tans. It is the iconic top dark layer and can give a very clean separation line with a lighter colored bottom layer. Here are pictures of some great examples.
With Guinness combinations, I've always had the Guinness on top. I've heard that Champagne will float on top of Guinness but I've never tried it. Has anyone had any success with something over Guinness?
* Just a quick shout out to Fanconia Brewing. I attended their brewery tour a few weeks ago and had a great time. They've just started bottling so I can now pick up their beers at the local grocery store.
