Check out the Franconia Kristallweizen and Pedernales Lobo Negro layered beer combination in the first picture. It has one of the best examples of layer separation I remember getting in the long time. Can a spoon do this?? Here is a closeup of the great layer separation seen in the Franconia/Lobo Negro combo.

The classic layered beer drink has a dark beer (most often Guinness) layered on top of a lighter colored beer. This combination gives a dramatic effect but it isn't the only possible layering combination. As can be seen in the pictures below, having a dark beer as the bottom layer can also work nicely. Keep on experimenting!! Check out the Instructions page for help in making different combinations.
Received these great layered beer pictures from John in St Louis MO. He used bottled Guinness over Schlafly Hefeweizen from the Saint Louis Brewery. Great layer separation! The second picture shows Guinness Draught over Strongbow cider.
