Back in January 2014 we had a blog post about an interesting black and tan video demonstration at the doingsciencetostuff blog. The video really showed the principle of density-based layering at work. See blog link here. Well, I just stumbled across another beer layering video they did a few months later using three beers in a wave tank. Check it out! You can find their full blog post here: doingsciencetostuff

I picked up some seasonal Franconia Maibock a few days ago (Hadn't seen it before...) and tried it with my last bottle of Nitro Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing Co. My previous layering experiements with the nitro stout always had it on the bottom but when I started pouring the Maibock over the stout I didn't see any layer forming. I then reversed the order with what I had left and poured the stout over the Maibock. Well it turned out great! A little later I did some research into the archives and found that the Maibock may turn out to be the bottom layer for a new four layer combination. Maibock + Nitro Milk Stout + Blood & Honey + Guinness. I'll need to build up my beer inventory and try it out soon.
