My wife brought home a 6-pack of Warsteiner Dunkel the other day. It tastes great and is very dark so I decided to find a layered beer combination using it. I found one using Shiner Kosmo on the bottom. When pouring, the Warsteiner immediately starts to mix with the Shiner and I thought it wouldn't work. However as I continued I found the mixing only went so far down. In the end the layering worked out pretty good. I also tried the dunkel over Harp Lager and Shiner Hefeweisen. They both mixed freely and no real layering effect was seen.

Here are some nice combinations. A pair with Mexican beers on top. A black and tan in the new Guinness glasses (don't remember the actual beers I used). Then a pair with Boulevard Irish Ale on the top and on the bottom. Then finally a combo with Guinness on top.
I really thought this one would work seeing as this beer combo has an official name. It started off well but, as you can see, the Guinness dropped into the Molson Canadian rather quickly. It was a nice cascading effect though. Click on the picture below to get a better view. This told me that the density of the Molson is relatively light like the Guinness. When I poured the Molson on top of some Sam Adams I got a nice clear-to-cloudy transition. See side picture. Being from Texas I wanted to see if there was a good Texas layered beer combination. After many tries I found a great pair with Shiner Kosmos and Black Lager.
